See Jesus' power!

I'm sure it is not too long ago since you had something to do that you felt was just too difficult for you.

Here is a true story of some people who thought something was impossible. When we discover what made them change their mind, I hope it will it make you change your mind about something that is not possible for you?

One day Jesus and His disciples "withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, but the crowds learned about it and followed Him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.

"Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to Him and said, ‘Send the crowd away so that they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodgings, because we are in a remote place here.'" 1*.

I'm glad the disciples came to talk this problem over with Jesus before doing anything else. You see, when you become one of God's true children God's says you are to "cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." 2*.

But, Jesus' reply was not what they expected. "You give them something to eat," He said! 3*.

There were about five thousand men there! The disciples said to Jesus, "We have only five loaves and two fish - unless we go and buy food for all this crowd." Jesus said to them, "Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each." 4*.

Now they had to decide whether to go ahead with their own plan or to obey Jesus! It is not enough to hear what God's word says to us, it is most important to be willing to obey it! 5*.

For example: mankind's greatest problem is knowing how we as sinners will be able to escape the punishment of a Holy and Just God. The answers given by religious leaders might be, "You must do penance", or "You must go along and pray that those sacrifices offered in churches will be acceptable to God for your sins." Others might say, "Try to do your best", or, "Don't sin"! Many people try to follow such advice.

But, NONE of these is the way God has for dealing with our sin problem; so none of these will make us acceptable to God! 6*. God's has this to say about the solution to the problem of your sins; "No-one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law." 7*. He says your only hope is to trust in Jesus; "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." 8*.

You have to decide if you are going to trust in Jesus' great love. Only then will you see Jesus' power meet your need - He will forgive your sin, make you ready for Heaven and make you able to live to please God!

The disciples obeyed Jesus and then they were able to see Jesus' power do the rest! Jesus miraculously multiplied the five loaves and the two fish until "they all ate and were satisfied." 9*.

Now, what about you? Will you obey and trust Jesus?

Read about the disciples giving up on their own solution and of how their faith in Jesus was rewarded in Luke chapter 9, verses 10-17.
