Sure of Heaven!

When setting out on a journey no one can be really sure of arriving safely at the other end. 1*. Some never arrive at their destination because of getting lost, or due to illness or accident.

Today's short story brings very good news. For the most important journey of life - your journey into eternity - you can plan for it and be sure of a wonderful destination! And there is no insurance for you to pay!! 2*.

One day the disciples accepted Jesus' advice and invitation to set of with Him on a journey. "Let's go over to the other side of the lake," Jesus said. "So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, He fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger." 3*.

Hopes of safely reaching the other side were fading! They seemed more likely to reach the bottom! I wonder what you or I would have done in that situation?

Do you know that the Lord Jesus Christ invites you and me to join Him for a very different and amazing journey? That journey begins as soon as you take up His offer, and it ends safely in Heaven with God! 4*. The offer is only good to those who will choose to trust and obey Jesus as their Saviour and Lord.. 5*. If you choose to trust the words and actions of some other person to forgive and save you then you are refusing to trust Jesus - you are refusing the only way to Heaven and God! 6*.

But on this occasion the disciples had taken Jesus at his word and now they were convinced they were about to perish!

"The disciples went and woke Him, saying, ‘Master, Master, we are going to drown!' He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. ‘Where is your faith?' He asked His disciples.

"In fear and amazement they asked one another, ‘Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him'" 7*.

Why had the disciples been so afraid? It was because they had not fully realised who the Person was who was wanting them to the other side of the lake with Him. The One who had invited them to make this journey with Him was the great God and Saviour Himself! 8*. They had no need to fear that their journey would end up a disaster. God was with them! They had only to continue to trust in the One they had obeyed as their Leader when He said "Let's go to the other side.."

YOU can only arrive safely on "the other side" - to be in Heaven with God - if you will accept the invitation from Jesus and depend on His grace and mercy to get you there. Jesus says, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in Me…I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." 9*.

Be sure of Heaven! Trust in Jesus as YOUR only hope and Saviour.

Read of the disciples' journey in Luke chapter 8, verses 22-25.
