Who financed Jesus?

"Where do you get the money to do this?" I am often asked. In today's story we will find the answer when we discover who financed Jesus. Where did Jesus get the money to support Himself and His twelve disciples as they went about preaching and teaching?" Don't think He just did it miraculously. No! That is not the answer!

"Jesus travelled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. The Twelve were with Him .. and many others." 1*.

Jesus was never known to ask for payment for anything He did. His preaching and His miraculous acts of mercy were offered freely to all who believed in Him. The only condition He looked for was "FAITH" in Him. 2*.

Jesus taught His true disciples that their work in the service of God was also to be offered free of charge. 3*. Beware of any religion where payment is demanded as a condition before a service can be offered or a spiritual blessing can be promised!

All of God's dealings with mankind are in GRACE - the unmerited favour and kindness of God to sinful undeserving people! 4*. Never be deceived into thinking that you can earn acceptance with the Holy and Just God by the payment of money or by doing good works! 5*.

Jesus never demanded payment so how did He provide for Himself and for his group of followers to travel the country, and have adequate food, clothing, and accommodation? Here's how Luke explained this as he recorded Jesus' activities: "Jesus travelled about… The Twelve were with Him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means." 6*.

Here were people who had freely received great blessings from Jesus. Now they were gladly sacrificing time and money to help support Jesus in His work so that many others could freely experience His love and power.

Jesus' greatest work was not, and is not, the healing of the sick and diseased - He came as the Saviour of the world; to save people from their sins. 7*. Today, those who have trusted in Jesus for healing and deliverance from their terrible disease of sin rejoice in knowing the forgiveness of sin and peace with God. 8*. Often they are eager to do whatever they can to make it possible for others to find the joy and peace that they have found. Through their willingness to sacrifice time or money or ability the task of giving others the opportunity to hear and believe the Gospel of Jesus is able to go on around the world. 9*.

It is with the help and support of such "born-again" Christians that God is making it possible for me to freely offer you this good news of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone. 10*.

Read about this support group of Jesus' in Luke chapter 8, verses 1-3.
