Secrets of Heaven!

It can sometimes be fun to try to work out the meaning of a coded message; at other times it can be a very serious business! In this story there is a coded message that has a very important meaning for YOU!

Jesus explained to His disciples why He used coded messages: "The knowledge of the secrets of the Kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables." 1*.

Some people might have though Jesus' teaching was an insult to their intelligence. For example, who needs to be told that when a farmer sows his seed only some of it grows and the rest is wasted because of unsuitable soil?

But when Jesus' disciples heard their greatest of all teachers use such a simple story they realized there must be a hidden meaning. They asked Him what this parable meant. 2*.

Jesus gave His followers this code to the hidden message - "The seed is the Word of God." 3*.

For some people once they would hear that, they would not want to hear any more! They are just like "the path" that some seeds fell on! There the seed was wasted because it was "trampled on and the birds of the air ate it up." 4*.

You see, when people are not interested in God's Word then they miss finding God's salvation and His plan for their lives.

Some will seem to want to hear what God says; until they discover something in God's message that is not in agreement with what they want to believe! They are like the "stony ground" where some seed fell but "when it came up the plants withered because they had no moisture." 5*.

Don't YOU be like that by letting what God says in His Word be crowded out of your thinking by other things that you would rather believe! 6*.

Then there are the people who work hard at their religion and who congratulate themselves on what they think they are doing for God. Problems arise when they discover from God's Word that the religious things they love and want to hold on to are not things that God wants from them! 7*. They are just like the "thorny ground" some seed fell on where the crop of weeds "grew up with it and choked the plants". 8*.

Be careful YOU don't want to hold on to religious things like idolatry and sacraments that God's word says are useless and worthless. The true message of the Word of God is already choked out and rejected by you if you are thinking that things like those can help to make you acceptable to God! 9*.

For some people the Word of God is taken seriously and believed. When they discover from God's Word that Christ died for them and rose again to bring them to God they are ready and willing to trust Jesus as their only Priest and only Hope! 10*. They are like the "good soil" where the seed "came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown."

The secrets of Heaven found in Luke chapter 8, verses 4-11 show you that God's Word must have the right place in our lives if we are to be pleasing to God.
