Demons also believe!

Did you realise that it is very possible to know and believe the right things about Jesus and still be rejected by God? Did you know that there are many people who speak about Jesus but they are not speaking for Him? 1*.

When Jesus was going about preaching, the crowds "were amazed at His teaching, because His message had authority."

Someone in the crowd cried out at the top of his voice, "Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? ... I know who you are - the Holy One of God!"

The man who recognised Jesus "was possessed by a demon, an evil spirit."

"`Be quiet!' Jesus said sternly. `Come out of him!' Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring the man." 2*.

Today there are many people who are speaking about Jesus whom Jesus does not wish to speak about Him! Even though they may say and know many right things about Jesus, they may not want to trust and obey ALL that Jesus stands for.

You see, even the demons also believe true things about God and Jesus, and they knew His power was much greater than theirs. 3*. The demons must have known that "the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the Devil's work," 4*. and they cried out, "Have You come to destroy us."

Jesus had come to destroy the Devil's work, but this was not His time to destroy the Devil and his demons: that time will certainly come! 5*. Instead, Jesus "rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew He was the Christ." 6*.

Let us realise this, that not everyone who says right things about Jesus is wanting you to trust and depend on Jesus to be your Saviour and Priest. Many who say some right things about Jesus go on to teach you that you should put your trust in them to forgive and save you! Anyone who does that is not telling you the whole truth about Jesus!

Jesus is not just one of many different people who can help you to get to God and Heaven. Jesus is the ONLY ONE who can make you right with God and ready for heaven. 7*.

The reason why Jesus is not pleased with everyone who speaks about Him is because "many false prophets have gone out into the world" 8*. They only use Jesus' name in order to deceive people! So, it is not enough to know that a person says some nice things about Jesus. Make sure you are being told the whole truth that GOD wants you to believe about Jesus!

For example, I am sure you have been told that Jesus Christ is God's Son. But have you been clearly told that He is the only Priest and Saviour: that no one can ever take His place for you! 9*. If you haven't been taught these things then you haven't been taught by true and faithful messengers of God!

So, remember the important lesson from our story today from Luke chapter 4, verses 31-37; not everybody who says some right things about Jesus is wanting you to believe the whole truth about Jesus.
