Mary's Terrible Mistake!

I wonder did you ever get separated from your parents or friends in a crowd of people?

There is a very important lesson for all of us to learn from this true story of a missing boy.

His parents had taken Him to the crowded city of Jerusalem for the Passover feast when He was just 12 years old. While in the temple He had become very interested in the teachers, and was "listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard Him was amazed at His understanding and answers." 1*.

You and I should also be eager to find out more and more about God as this boy, Jesus, was?

Who are the "teachers" God has given for you and me today? They are, of course, the apostles and the prophets who wrote the Bible, and especially Jesus Christ Himself. 2*.All their teachings are to be found in one book - The Holy Bible.

True wisdom is to know the true God - not just what some religion would teach about Him. God has made Himself known for us in the Bible. 3*.

After the Passover feast Jesus' parents set off to return to their home in Nazareth. "Thinking Jesus was in their company, they travelled on for a day. Then they began looking for Him among their relatives and friends." 4*.

Today many people are still making Joseph and Mary's terrible mistake - travelling thorough life thinking Jesus is with them, and not bothering to find out if He is really with them.

Is it possible to check up to make sure Jesus is really with you on life's journey? Yes!

How did Joseph and Mary check up? No doubt they looked and listened for Him in the religious crowd. You must do the same!

Look for Jesus in your life. Do you find yourself content to do and enjoy things that you know Jesus would not want in your life? Then it should be clear to you that you are not travelling with Jesus! If Jesus is with you you will not want to go on enjoying sinful things! 5*.

Those who are travelling with Jesus will be eager to listen for His voice. 6*.Jesus speaks to us through His Word, the Holy Bible. The person who doesn't bother to prayerfully read the Bible day by day is not wanting Jesus' to be with him to guide and bless his ways. Are you interested in knowing what Jesus says in His Word and obeying it?

You see, to be one of those who has Jesus travelling with them in life you must first WANT Him to become your Leader and Saviour! 7*.You must want Him to take sin out of your life and lead you in the way He wants you to live. Only those people will arrive with Him in His home in Heaven! 8*.

Don't just be content to hear the many voices of religious people all around. If you want the Lord with you in life, seek Him today as your Leader and Saviour! Ask Him NOW to save you and be with you!9*.

Read of Joseph and Mary's urgent search 10*. when they discovered their mistake in Luke chapter 2, verses 39-52.
