God has children!

Children can expect loving parents to care for them and give to them things that are safe and good. Jesus once asked, "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?" 1*.

Let me tell you a true story of something a good Father once gave to His Son that seemed very strange and very wrong.

Jesus is the Son of God, and He called God in Heaven His "Father". 2*. This Father and Son were unique - there never was, and never will be, another Father and Son like this!

When we think about Jesus, "the Christ, the Son of the Living God," 3*. we must never think that He started out as a child born to God! Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God - He had no beginning. There was never a time when He became God. He always "was with God and He was God." 4*.

But, there was a time when He became a Man!

This wonderful person, known to us as God the Son, 4*. was the key person in God's wonderful plan for our Salvation. He willingly left heaven and became a Man by a miraculous virgin birth. 5*. He was called "JESUS", meaning Saviour, because He came to save His people from their sins. 6*. This was NOT the beginning of Christ Jesus; this was God taking a very different nature by being changed into one of us! 5*.

When Jesus humbled Himself by becoming human, He also became subject to the laws God had given to mankind. As the Son of Man He was willing to keep those laws and to do all God required of Him in order to become the Saviour for mankind. 7*.

Have you noticed how the Father seemed to mistreat his special Son? "God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." 8*. God gave to His special Son the awful punishment for countless sins that He did not commit; yet he was NOT being unfair to His Son! Jesus was willingly being our substitute! By doing this for us He would then be able to freely offer us forgiveness of all our sins and an undeserved place in God's family!

Today God has children, many of them, adopted into His family because of all He did for us when He became a Son of Man. 9*.

What a wonderful privilege! Sinners like you and me can be made members of God's family! All those who put their faith in that wonderful Jesus as their only Priest and Saviour become God's children and have the right to call God in Heaven their "Father"! 10*.

Although we are all sinful by nature yet we know how to give good gifts to our children. Jesus said, "how much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

True children of God by faith in Jesus should be interested in reading this great promise in Luke chapter 11, verses 11-13, for themselves. And God has made many many more promises to His children throughout the Bible.
