Childish about religion!

When you hear a child saying, "I'm not playing!" it is often because he or she is being childish and does not want to go along with the rules of the game, or is not getting his or her own way. In this true story we find out that God accuses most adults of being childish - childish about religion!

Apart from Jesus Christ, whose birth was unique as the Son of God, who would you say was the greatest person ever born of woman? Would you agree with Jesus who said, "I tell you, among those born of woman there is no-one greater that John."? 1*. John the Baptist was the last and greatest of the prophets sent by God to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah. The religious experts in the law had rejected John's message that Jesus was "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world." 2*.

Many times God had sent faithful prophets to prepare this people and their religious leaders to receive the Messiah God had promised to send. They had refused to accept God's message and had ignored God's faithful messengers, and now were refusing Jesus as the Messiah, choosing deliberately to believe and do what pleased themselves. 3*.

Jesus said, "To what can I compare the people of this generation? They are like children sitting in the market-place and calling out to each other; `We played the flute for you and you did not dance; we sang a dirge and you did not cry.'" 4*.

Jesus was accusing the people of being childish about religion! God's Word to them was saying something different than what they wanted to believe. So their attitude towards God was just like that of children towards each other in the street - "I'm not playing along with you!"

Many people and religions today openly disagree with Jesus and claim other human beings to be far greater than John. In fact some even go so far as to place another in the place that only Jesus can have! Let me ask you; who would you say is your life, your sweetness and your hope? Who would you say is your most gracious advocate with God? If you are wanting to believe it is someone other than Jesus Christ alone 5*. then you are being childish about religion by refusing to go along with the clear message God has given about His Son as the only Saviour. 6*.

You should be willing to look carefully into the Word of God, the Holy Bible, to find out and believe exactly what God has said?

No one can be greater than John by human birth, but those who trust in Jesus for Salvation are "born of God" 7*. and become members of a far greater family - the family and kingdom of God. 8*. That is why Jesus could say, "I tell you, among those born of woman there is no-one greater that John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he." 1*.

Don't you be childish about religion like the people Jesus spoke about here in Luke chapter 7, verses 24-35.
