Perhaps it surprises you that with medicine so very well advanced today that all diseases still can not be healed. Instead we find that there are many diseases that cannot be controlled and which cause great suffering and death. The true Christian is not surprised by this because Jesus told us that before His return "there will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places." 1*.
In this true story today we hear about the cure for the oldest and worst disease that has ever plagued mankind. You should be interested in knowing about this cure.
Before we hear about the worst disease of all let me tell you about a man "who was covered with leprosy." At the time of this story leprosy was a very serious disease. People with leprosy were Separated from others, Injured by the disease, and had No hope of being cured!
Leprosy can remind us of the worst of all diseases that also results in "S" for Separation; "I" for Injury of the life; and "N" for No hope of being cured. S.I.N. Sin is the worst and most widespread disease of all. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." 2*. You see, Sin Separates us from God; 3*. it Injures and spoils our lives: 4*.and there is No hope of sinners finding a cure for themselves! 5*.
But there is good news, just as there was for the man in this true story.
"While Jesus was in one of the towns, this man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged Him, `Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.'"
What faith this man showed in Jesus! He even believed that Jesus had the power needed for healing the incurable!
Have you that kind of faith in God? Faith in God to heal you of your terrible incurable disease of sin! Did you realise that the real reason why God sent Jesus into our world was to save us from our sins? 6*.. YOU SHOULD TRUST JESUS AS YOUR PRIEST NOW 7*. He is the only one who is able to take away your sins.
Jesus' response to true faith in Him is always the same as it was with that leper. "Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. `I am willing,' He said, `Be clean!' And immediately the leprosy left him." 8*.
Today when any sinner puts his or her faith in Jesus for forgiveness and a changed life Jesus promises that person will be JUSTIFIED. 9*. The day I put my faith in Jesus to forgive me, believing He had fully paid for my sins by His death for me, I was "justified"! God now looks upon me JUST as IF I'D never sinned. I have been made clean from my sin by faith in Jesus!
