Meet the Saviour.

It is not often you would accidentally meet and speak to someone who is really famous. If you have, I'm sure you have often told your friends about the day you met that very important person.

Many people would not like to have met the very important person the Samaritan woman met in this true story. See if you would have been happy to meet such a person, and see if you would have been so eager to tell others about it!

This woman had come out of the town to get water from the well. Here she met a Jewish man who began a conversation with her. She was shocked to find out that He knew the personal details of her life and living. (John 4:16-19.) Quickly she changed the subject and began to talk about religion; but of course they disagreed with each other. (John 4:20-24.) Then she said "I know that Messiah (called Christ) is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us." (verse 25.)

The Jewish man declared, "I who speak to you am He." (verse 26.) Could this man, Jesus of Nazareth, really be the long-promised Messiah sent from God?

"Just then His disciples returned and were surprised to find Him talking with a (Samaritan) woman... Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 'Come, see a Man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"' (verses 27-29.)

How would YOU like to meet someone who could tell you everything about your private life? Maybe you would rather not! But, you better be ready to, because you are going to meet such a Person someday! One day you and I will stand before God to be judged according to God's true and complete record of our lives! (Revelation 20:12. Matthew 16:27.)

For this woman it wasn't her day of judgment yet - but, having met Jesus she was in no doubt that she was going to have to answer to God one day for everything she had done in life. Nothing can be hidden from God! (Hebrews 4:13.)

But, she had also come to know that Jesus Christ was the Messiah -the One who had come to offer to forgive and to save those who would trust His love and power. (John 1:12. 3:16-19.)

"Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of the woman's testimony... They urged Him to stay with them, and He stayed for two days. And because of His words many more became believers.

"They said to the woman,'We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselevs, and we know that this man really is the Saviour of the world.'" (verses 39-42.)

Now, what will YOU believe about Jesus Christ the Son of God? He knows all about our sins, yet was willing to take the punishment you and I deserve - He died for us (1st Corinthians 15:3-4. 2nd Corinthians 5:21.), so that He could bring us to God. (1st Peter 3:18.)

Today, in faith, you can MEET THE SAVIOUR and put your trust in Him to be your Priest and Leader. (Acts 5:31. ) Is Jesus your Lord and Saviour yet?
