Were you born into a very special family? I was, when I was nine years old!
Maybe you think it is strange to hear me talk about being born at the age of nine! If you do then you will understand how a man called Nicodemus felt when Jesus first talked to him about being “born again”. Nicodemus was very confused too!
But to be “born again” simply means the special event that makes a person become a member of God’s family. This is NOT something that happens when you are a baby! It happens when you make the very important decision to trust in Jesus Christ as your Saviour; and God then accepts you as His child. (John 1:12-13.)
I hope you will be interested in Jesus’ very own words as He prays to His Father about the wonderful privileges for those who are in the true family of God.
“Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My glory, the glory You have given Me because You loved Me before the creation of the world.” (verse 24.)
So you see, Jesus has arranged a place in Heaven for all who trust in Him as Saviour! But that’s not all! Jesus spoke about another privilege His followers would have.
“Righteous Father.... they know that You have sent Me. I have made You known to them, and will continue to make You known..” (verses 25-26.)
Did you note that! Jesus’ followers can have a free education about God by the greatest of all Teachers - by Jesus Christ Himself! Jesus is “the Truth”. By carefully reading the teachings of Jesus Christ about God, as recorded in the Holy Bible, and believing all He has said, we will know we have the Truth. According to Jesus the HOLY BIBLE is the only textbook about God, and it is absolutely true and reliable. (verse 17.)
I hope you are willing to check all you believe about God with what it says in His Word, the Holy Bible. Those who believe other religious teachers instead of Jesus, or who believe other books about God instead of the Bible, are NOT wanting Jesus to be their Teacher and are not true members of God’s family.
But Jesus had even more to say that shows us how wonderful it is to be “born again” into His family.
Jesus prayed, “I.. will continue to make You known in order that the love You have for Me may be in them and that I Myself may be in them.” (verse 26.) Not only is God’s love put into the hearts of God’s very own children, but Jesus Himself lives within their lives, by His Holy Spirit.
I’m very happy that I have two different birthdays? Have YOU two different birthdays to celebrate? Have YOU been “born again” into God’s family by faith in Jesus Christ alone as your Priest and Saviour? You have to be to get to God and Heaven. (John 3:3, 7.) You can be right now, and you will have all that Jesus promised!
