Finding God's answer.

Haven't you sometimes watched a magician doing unbelievable tricks, and wondered how they could ever be done? It seemed you were watching impossible things happening!

If you read this short story you will discover the secret of how the greatest impossible feat known to mankind has been made possible, even for a child! And it is not a trick, it is a miracle!

One day John the Baptist was "with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, 'Look, the Lamb of God!' When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus..." (verses 35-37.) They couldn't wait to get to know and trust this wonderful Person who was said to be able to do an impossible thing for them.

Are you eager to know that wonderful Person? He wants to do an impossible thing for you too! No doubt you have discovered it is an impossible thing for you to put away sin from your life, so as to be at peace with God and be sure of Heaven. You are right; Jesus said it "is impossible with men"! (Luke 18:26-27.)

But John said that Jesus was the "Lamb of God" that could "take away the sin of the world"! (John 1:29.) How could it be possible?

There is a clue in that name He was given. God had provided this "Lamb" whose death would be the payment that would satisfy God for the sins of the whole world. (Genesis 22:8. 1st John 2:1-2. Hebrews 9:28.)

God, by sending His own Son to be the once and for all sacrifice for sins, (Hebrews 10:10-14.), was providing you and me with a wonderful Saviour. (1st John 4:14. John 3:16-19.)

But, do you want sin taken away out of your life? Sadly most people do NOT! They want to go on enjoying sinful pleasures. Such people will often look for comfort and hope by practising some religion or other - instead of finding God's answer.

The sinner who truly wants his/her sins taken away soon discovers that religion CANNOT HELP! (Colossians 2:16-23.) It is ONLY JESUS, THE LAMB OF' GOD, who can do this impossible thing for the sinner. (Luke 18:26-27. Romans 8:1-11. Acts 4:12.)

If you want Jesus to forgive your sins, and change your sinful life, and give you peace with God you must ask Him in faith to do this impossible thing for you. "He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him." (Hebrews 7:25. Acts 13:38-39.)

One of John's two disciples who followed Jesus that day was called Andrew. He was excited at finding God's answer for sin. "The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, 'We have found the Messiah' (that is, the Christ.) Then he brought Simon to Jesus, who looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas' (which, when translated, is Peter). (verses 41-42.) Peter means a small stone. I think this shows that Jesus already recognised that Peter would prove himself to have a lasting unchangeable faith in Jesus. (Matthew 16:13-17.)

I hope you will have a lasting and unchangeable faith in Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, and be as eager to tell others about Him as Andrew was.

Read the story of Andrew finding God's answer in John's gospel chapter 1, verses 35-42.
