Caring, reliable Friend!

I hope you have at least one good friend you can really trust; someone who understands you and is ready and willing to help you. But friends like that are hard to find, and are not always around when you need them most. Maybe you have been disappointed or let down by your friend(s) at some time.

Peter missed his best Friend. He was still feeling upset and confused. You see, his Leader had been taken from him and killed: he would never forget the horrible scenes of Jesus being arrested and taken off to be crucified. Nor would he ever forget meeting the same Jesus some days later, alive and well!

Jesus had told the disciples to “go to Galilee” and there they would see Him again. Now they were in Galilee, waiting! Not knowing where or how Jesus planned to meet them, Peter decided to keep himself busy by going fishing. Six of the other disciples said “‘We'll go with you.’ So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.” (verses 1-3.)

It is certainly good to try to do something useful and helpful with your time. God never encourages or blesses laziness! (Proverbs 21:25.) As these fishermen were returning ashore “early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
He called out to them, ‘Friends, haven’t you any fish?’
“‘No’ they answered.
“He said, ‘Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.’”

Here was a caring friend! The fishermen’s hopes for the night had failed miserably! They decided to accept this Stranger’s advice, and soon they were very glad that they did! “They were unable to haul in the net because of the large number of fish.” (verse 6.)

Are YOU ready and willing to accept advice about what you are doing with your life? Have you discovered that your life is not pleasing to God the way you had wished or hoped it would be?

The caring reliable Friend who spoke to those fishermen wants to speak to you and me today. The Lord Jesus knows exactly what is best for your life, and he wants you to have it. Why else would He have died for your sins? Now He is risen from the dead and alive forever. (Romans 8:31-32.)

Have you trusted in Him as your Saviour and Leader?

God’s instruction Book for you and me is the message of the HOLY BIBLE. The Holy Bible is useless to you, if you refuse to believe and obey whatever God says to you in it!

When Peter realized it was the Lord who had spoken to them, he jumped into the water to go to Him. Jesus, his caring reliable Friend was there when he needed him, and was even cooking breakfast on the beach for His disciples!

I hope you will love, trust and obey the words of Jesus Christ as He speaks to you through the Bible. If you do, you will certainly have a caring reliable Friend who will never leave you or forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5-6.)

Read about this Friend in John chapter 21, verses 1-14.
