Living with regret.

Have you ever made a decision that you still regret having made? The guilt or consequences go on and on! We are learning about a decision that will certainly cause you regret if you get it wrong today. (Matthew 7:21-27.)

Very few people have had the experience the apostle Paul had of having a vision from Heaven. (verse 19.) His whole life and religious beliefs had been greatly changed, for the better, as a result of the vision. Now he believed and taught the same message Jesus Christ had taught.

That is why the Jews had seized Paul, and caused him to be put on trial. (verse 21.) While defending himself before King Agrippa, he told of the great light, and the voice from heaven that had changed his attitude and opposition to Jesus Christ. Jesus had then said to him, “I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of Me, and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people, and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them, to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” (verses 16-18.)

So, from then on, everywhere Paul had gone he had fearlessly preached that Jesus was the Saviour. (Romans 1:16-17.) He told King Agrippa, “I preached that they should repent and turn to God, and prove their repentance by their deeds.” (verse 20.)

Paul’s message about Jesus was the very same as “the prophets and Moses said would happen.” (verse 22. Luke 24:44-48.)

Now, King Agrippa had a more important decision to make about himself, than about what to do with Paul! Would he be willing to repent - to turn away from his sinful ways - and to have faith in Jesus Christ to forgive and save him? (Acts 10:40-42.) If he refuses to do this, he will be refusing his only hope of ever having a place in God’s Kingdom of Heaven.

Even before we read on to find out king Agrippa’s response, you would be best to attend to your own response to God’s Gospel. You must want your life changed, and have faith in Jesus Christ as the only one who can forgive and change you. (John 1:11-12. 3:16-19.) Only Jesus can provide you with a place in Heaven. (John 14:1-6.) “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.” (John 3:36.)

So, to refuse to trust in Jesus Christ as your Saviour today could be a decision that would result in you living with regret for a very long time – FOR ETERNITY IN HELL! “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation.” (2ndCorinthians 6:2.)
