Usually, a person believes that the religion he/she is born into is the one that is right and true. But what about the people born into those other religions? They also believe that their religion is the true one! All religions can’t be right!
Someone might say, “It's God’s fault if I believe the wrong thing. He has allowed there to be so many different religions!” Here we find out it is not God’s fault if you or I believe the wrong religion!
Down through the ages many have found it to be a problem to know what is truth about God. (John 18:37-38.) But had this crowd that we meet today any excuse? These were the people who had rejected Jesus, and had Him crucified. (Acts 3:13-14.)
Peter showed up their unbelief. He reminded them how Moses had said, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like Me from among your own people. You must listen to everything He tells you. Anyone who does not listen to Him will be completely cut off from among his people.” (verses 22-23.)
The promises of God through the prophets (verse 25) were wonderfully and exactly fulfilled by the coming of Jesus Christ. (Luke 24:44-48. Acts 10:42-43.)
These people should have trusted Jesus, but they were not willing to repent - not willing to turn from their own ideas of religion and believe that only Jesus, whom God had sent, could save and keep them. (John 3:16-19.)
Peter’s message to them that day was offering them another chance: “When God raised up His Servant (Jesus), He sent Him first to you, to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.” (verse 26.)
Would they still not want to trust Jesus to do this for them? Their religion had not been able to make them good! (Acts 13:36-41.)
And what about you? Will you trust Jesus to do this for you? No religion can make you fit for God and Heaven! Jesus’ message was that He alone could bring people to God, (John 14:6. 1stPeter 3:18.) and “you must listen to everything He tells you”, is God’s clear command. (Matthew 17:5. John 12:48.) So, Jesus is God’s infallible Prophet for the world today.
Are you eager to find out the true teachings of Jesus? You will have to check up in the Holy Bible. (2ndTimothy 3:16-17. Acts 17:11.)
As Peter and John spoke of Jesus that day some jealous religious leaders came and had them arrested. “But many who heard the message believed; and the number of men grew to about five thousand.” (4:1-4.)
Today religious leaders, in jealousy, often still reject the claims of Jesus Christ, even though they might even preach “in His name”! (Matthew 7:21-27.)
Please do not reject God’s infallible Prophet, Jesus Christ, who clearly taught that He is the only One who can get you to God. (1stTimothy 2:5-6)
Put your trust in Him today!
