Death without destruction!

People sometimes try to impress you by making promises they may not be able to keep! When they fail to keep their promises, you realise they are people you cannot trust.

Let me tell you about an unbelievable promise you can trust! God made this fantastic promise, and few people believed He could keep it.

But God's promises are ALWAYS trustworthy, and are to be found in His Word, the Holy Bible. (Luke 24:44-48. Acts 17:11. John 5:39-40.)

Listen to this fantastic promise - God promised He would not allow the “Holy One see decay” (verse 35.) – He would not rot in death!

Paul reminded the Jews in Antioch that God had made this promise at the time of Israel’s greatest king - King David. “David had served God’s purpose in his own generation”, he died and “was buried with his fathers, and his body decayed. But the One whom God raised from the dead did not see decay.” (verses 36-37.) God kept His promise by “raising up Jesus” from the dead. (verses 32-33.) Here was death without destruction. God Son was “the Living One” who could say, “I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever.” (Revelation 1:18.) He alone is the Saviour, able to bring us to God. (Acts 4:10-12. 5:30-32.)

Paul’s “good news” is the same for today: (verse 32.) “I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through Him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.” (verses 38-39.)

Jesus’ death for your sins, and His resurrection, are the proof that He is ABLE and WILLING to forgive you, and to save you from the death and destruction your sin deserves. (Romans 6:23. 5:6-11. Hebrews 7:23-27.)

But some scoff in unbelief at God’s great love in providing such a free pardon for a repentant and trusting sinner. God makes a very different promise concerning them: “Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something you would never believe, even if someone told you.” (verse 41.)

Will YOU ignore or refuse the kindness and love of God, that He has shown for a sinner like you by the death and resurrection of His Son? Such unbelief will lead you to the terrible death and destruction sinful mankind deserves from a Holy and Just God. (Matthew 25:41. 2ndThessalonians 1:6-10.) But God promises death without destruction to all those who will put their hope and trust in Jesus Christ as Saviour. (John 5:24. 1stCorinthians 15:50-57.)

Jesus made this promise of God clear to us when He said, “My Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son, and believes in Him, shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40.)

Make sure YOUR faith and hope are in the Lord Jesus Christ today!
