Magician versus God!

You will discover that this is not a foolish question - If you were blind, and could be offered the choice of either being made to see, or of having someone to lead you in your blindness, which would you choose?

Some who read the following will surprise themselves to find out that they don’t agree with their own answer to this question!

Elymas was a magician living in Cyprus. “He was a friend of the governor of the island, Sergius Paulus, who was an intelligent man.” (verses 6-8.)

The governor called for two Christian preachers, Barnabas and Saul, to be brought before him “because he wanted to hear the Word of God. But Elymas opposed them and tried to turn the governor away from the faith.” (verse 8.) Elymas the magician versus God!

All witchcraft, sorcery and occult “magic” are forbidden by God! (Leviticus 19:26.) Yet, today there are many who would claim to be servants of God, but are involved in occult practices, such as prayers to the dead! (Isaiah 8:19.) This is an evidence of a FALSE religion! (Romans 6:16. 1stJohn 3:7-8.) God rejects all such people and practices, and warns us not to be deceived by them. (Deuteronomy 18:10-14.)

The Enemy of God does not mind you knowing about Jesus, but he does not want anyone to believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as the ONLY PRIEST and SAVIOUR God has given. (Acts 4:12. Hebrews 7:23-28.)

Are you willing to believe that only Jesus Christ Himself can forgive and save you? Or, will you, like Elymas, want to go on believing some other message?

Saul - also known as Paul - was led by God to say to Elymas: “You are a child of the Devil! And an enemy of everything that is right. You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun.”

“Immediately mist and darkness came over him and he groped about seeking someone to lead him by the hand. When the governor saw what had happened, he believed.” (verses 11-12.)

If you discover that you have been believing things that disagree with God’s Word, the Holy Bible, what will you do? Will you turn away from obeying God’s Word, and go looking for someone who agrees with you, and who will lead you on in your darkness and disobedience? (Acts 5:31-32. 26:18.)

Jesus, “the Light of the world” (John 8:12.), gives us this reason why people often choose to be led on in their spiritual darkness, instead of turning to faith in Him: “Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:19.)

Read Acts chapter 13, verses 6-12.
